Reggaeton is a type of urban music that has become widespread in popularity among young music lovers in Latin America, North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Reggaeton music originated in Panama and caters to Hispanic youth, with rapping and singing often in Spanish. The music is a blend of Jamaican style music such as dancehall and reggae and Latin America style music such as salsa, bomba, plena, merengue, bachata, hip hop, bolero, R&B, and Latin pop.

Reggaeton music boasts its own specific rhythm and beat. The rhythm of reggaeton is often referred to as "Dem Bow." The name Dem Bow references the title of a dancehall song from the 1990s by Shabba Ranks. Though the music genre of reggaeton is mostly associated with Puerto Rico (where this style of music was popularized and became famous), the lyrics are more hip hop type lyrics than dancehall.

Probably the most enigmatic Singer and Guitarist of the twentieth Century is now one of the most revered and respected of all Musicians who make up the Genre of the "Blues ". I speak of course about the wonderful Robert Leroy Johnson. Born in 1911 in Hazelhurst Mississippi, in a Deep South plantation, he, in his pitifully short life has become one of the founding Fathers of the Blues.

He recorded only 36 sides over a period of a couple of months between November 1936 and June 1937 in San Antonio Texas .These remarkable recordings still bring tears to the eyes of Blues aficionados the world over and shaped the face of the music of today.

The post-war Blues of Chicago owe a great debt to Robert Johnson and it is sad to think what might have been had he lived! In just a few short years he mat ... Read more »

Platinum-selling country music star Sara Evans describes motherhood as "the most amazing thing a woman can do."

Like most working moms, Evans has learned to prioritize work life and motherhood. Her three children, Audrey, Avery and Olivia, join her on tour on a custom, kid-friendly tour bus.

"My kids travel on the road with me," she said. "I try to absorb as much time with them as I can before I have to get ready for the show."

Her advice for working moms: "Just love them, be with them as much as you can and put them first above everything."

Music mastering is an essential part of every hit record. Yet, few new (and even some "established") musicians have a good understanding of what mastering is and why they need it.

This often leads to many selecting the wrong mastering studio… and making many unnecessary mistakes in the recording and music mixing phases (which affects the mastering later on).

This is why below are the 5 most frequently asked questions about music mastering:

1. What exactly is music mastering?

Mastering is the final phase before your CDs, Vinyls, DVDs or MP3 files are produced. It's the last chance to get the sound right… and for errors to be fixed.

Mastering transforms your music from a "raw" sound into a professional, "radio-ready" sound. It gives your tracks punch, loudness, clarity, a ... Read more »

Stock footage is footage that is used instead of shooting new footage. You see its use in many movies, like sweeping views of cities and landscapes. You also see this footage when viewing dangerous beasts in their natural habitats, these shots can be extremely expensive so using stock footage opens up the budget a bit. It is easy enough to add in something to stock footage to meet your requirements these days.

A great example of the usages of stock footage is Forrest Gump, how else did Tom Hanks meet historic, and dead figures like John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon or even John Lennon? There were several historic clips in that movie as well, these are also considered to be ‘stock footage’.

The largest producer of public domain stock footage is the U.S. government. Not everybody can get beautiful pictures of space nebulas or fighter jets in training like the U.S. Military and NASA c ... Read more »

Owning a jukebox Mp3 Player is not a new concept. In fact jukeboxes have been in existence for a long time. In the early times, the system of running these music machines was to slip in a coin in the model placed at a disco joint and a song of your choice would be played. The first one ever known was made by Louis Glass and William S. Arnold in 1889. It was again coin operated and was placed in San Francisco in a salon called Palais Royale. It was kept in a cabinet made of Oakwood. It simply had a couple of listening tubes to listen to the music with no patrons or amplification.

Those days are very much gone and we don't need to go to a salon to listen to music played on a jukebox. The physical machine has now been replaced by a digital one which is definitely much more convenient with hardly any maintenance. There are a lot of varieties of digital music players available in the market. The features that modern dig ... Read more »

The worst thing about Christmas has to be listening to Top Of The Pops and the Christmas Number 1 – Girls Aloud, Robbie Williams, Westlife and Mr Blobby for goodness sake! Surely anyone can produce a better Christmas Hit than those. After all, a computer does all the work, doesn't it - all you do is press a few buttons and jiggle a few drum and bass lines around.

So what do you need? You need a PC with a reasonable amount of processing power under the hood - a Pentium III at least, preferably a P4 - in order to run the music software.

Audio files are quite large - forget MP3s, we're talking the real thing here - and for each track of audio you record you'll need around 10.6Mb of hard disk space per minute. Every track won't be filled with audio so you won't need quite that much in a multi-track recording but for a four-minute 16-track song it would be wise to allocate around ... Read more »
